| Iran is a vast country, with a rich culture and full of spectacular places. About seven million tourists visited Iran in 2017 and 2018. Most people wonder if there are any night clubs or casinos in Iran; or is it okay to drink alcohol in the country?

Tough Iran and specifically Shiraz, is famous for the wine; and it plays an important role in Iranian poets, alcoholic drinks are illegal in this country. As Iran is an Islamic country and drinking alcohol is illegal here; and you can’t find any clubs or casinos in Iran.
Your luggage will be checked with X-ray at the airport. So, you shouldn’t bring alcoholic drinks or liquor chocolates with you. And if you get caught while carrying or drinking alcoholic drinks, you will be punished.
The prohibition of producing or selling alcohol in Iran has caused black market which can be dangerous for your health; because alcohol poisoning is quite common because illegal alcohol is often sub-standard.
You can place Iranian drinks such as different sharbats (traditional Iranian drinks), Dough, Chayi (Persian tea) or non-alcoholic beer.
Islam says that gambling should be forbidden. And as Iran is an Islamic country, you can’t find any casinos in the country or play games such as poker and etc. In replacement of that, if you have time and like to learn a new game, we recommend you to learn “Takhte Nard” (Backgammon), the ancient Persian game which you can play in many cafes in Iran.
In addition to gambling, Islam forbids pork meat too; so you can easily guess that it’s also not allowed in Iran. You may find stores in some areas of Tehran or Isfahan which are specifically for Armenians; and you can’t buy pork meat from those stores.
Well, if you are a true traveler, I don’t think the absence of alcohol or pork meat can change your mind. Besides, I bet when you taste the amazing flavor of Iranian food, you will forget about all of them. So don’t let forbidden things in Iran make you miss one of the most amazing trips you can experience in your life!
