|Bushehr is a port city and the capital of Bushehr province located in the southwest of Iran. This port is located at an altitude of 18 meters above sea level; and it is in the coastal area of the Persian Gulf. Most people in Bushehr speak Persian with a local accent. Today’s port of Bushehr was revived by Nader Shah Afshar in 1736. The place was formerly known as Rishahr. The port of Bushehr has flourished economically due to factors such as fishing, nuclear powerhouse, shipbuilding, and exports from this port.
Bushehr’s name has been registered in books and historical documents under different names. You can see the city with the names of: “Ram Ardeshir“, “Aboshahr“, “Bokht Ardeshir“, “Lian” and “Rishahr” in different documents.
We attribut Bushehr’s name to Ardeshir, the Sassanid king. It is said that “Ram Ardeshir” became “Rishahr” over time and it again changed to “Bushehr” during time. In the Achaemenid era, one of the great civilizations in Iran was the Lian civilization, which some mistakenly consider the civilization to be the present city of Bushehr. According to the artifacts discovered in the ancient region of Halileh and Rishahr, the name of this land was Germansica. You can also see the name of this port in the ancient monuments of Susa.

The dome is located in the middle of Jashk mountains, in the Zagros mountain chain. The area of the dome is about 3666 hectares and its height is 1350 meters above sea level.
You can find one or more bazaars in every city of Iran! Bazaar is an important element in Iranian cities; and also, is a perfect place to buy all kinds of handicrafts and souvenir from.
The old bazaar of Bushehr or Safa bazaar, was built during Qajar dynasty. The embellishments and architecture of this place is beautiful and spectacular. Safa bazaar is Bushehr’s beating heart of business and economy. And you can find all kinds of food, souvenirs and copper accessories in it.
Bushehr’s old bazaar has good lighting and ventilation. It is built in a way that prevents snow and rain from entering to the bazaar in the cold season; and also, prevents direct sunlight from entering and warms the shop and the people who come to buy stuff in Summer. There are a total of 250 shops in the old bazaar of Bushehr, all engaged in business. In addition to Muslim businesses, there are several Christian and Jewish businessmen in the market.
Bushehr is one of the country’s port cities; and the presence of a market dedicated to seafood will certainly be quite obvious. Visit this bazaar if you were looking for such a place to prepare seafood while visiting this city . Bushehr’s Fish bazaar is a good place to buy all kinds of southern fish and fresh and tasty shrimp, which happens to be very popular. The market is over 50 years old; and you can see the crowd of people who are looking for fresh seafood in it from morning till 10 P.M .
Green palm groves are like a jewel on the ring of this province. Dashtestan city and Ab Pakhsh have the largest number of palms in the province. The lush, towering groves at the entrance to the cities have given a very spectacular view to the area, not all the tourists can easily pass this place without stopping for some hours. The presence of water-filled canals on both sides of the entrance to the city of Ab Pakhsh has given a special freshness and vitality to this area so that the travelers can enjoy water and nature together. In addition to their special beauty, these groves have a high variety of dates. In addition to dates, citrus fruits, lemons and pomegranates grow in these groves, they are the most beautiful in Spring.
As Bushehr is a port city, sea food is one of the main ingredients of most local foods. Lakhlakh, Ghalye Meygoo(Shrimp), Sugar and rice, Shrimp and rice, Kobe and Bushehri Gheymeh are the most popular foods you can eat in Bushehr.
The word “Lakhlakh”, comes from the Arabic word “Lakhlakheh, means: good scent. This food originally comes from the Western cities of Persian Gulf; and they usually cook it with Sangsar, Hamour and Sorkhou fishes and a mix of rice, onion, garlic, butter and dill comes on the side.
As you know fish and shrimp are the main ingredients of the Southern Bushehri foods. Ghalyeh Meygoo is one of delicious and popular dishes in South of Iran. You cook Shrimp, which is the main ingredient of this dish,with onion, garlic, flour, coriander, spices and tamarind.
Kobe is actually an Arabic food that Iranians cook it in very different ways in Iran. The main ingredient of this food is bulgur. The other ingredients of this dish are: cooked meat, minced wheat, onion, onion, coriander, red lentils, cinnamon, black pepper, lemon juice, chopped walnuts, chopped peanuts, barberry and raisins.
You can eat Kobe with rice or potato, it’s your choice!
Gheymeh is one of the most popular dishes among Iranian foods; but the Gheymeh you can find in Bushehr is a lot more different than the ones you eat in other cities of Iran. It tastes sour and salty and the appearance is like soup! You have to squish the meat after you cooked it; and then add it to other ingredients such as: onion, tomato paste, cobs, potato and other spices.
Sugarc and rice is one of the popular dishes that you can find in Bushehr and some other Southern cities in Iran. The serve this dish in gatherings, funerals and different ceremonies. This food may not taste nice to everyone because of it’s sweet taste; but along with the Bushehri Gheymeh, which tastes sour and, comes as a suitable combination.
