Hair transplantation is the transfer of hair from around the head or other parts of the body to bald areas. This process has two main stages of hair removal from the hair bank and hair transplantation in bald area. In general, the more hair there is in the hair bank and the thicker the hair, the better the result of hair transplantation will be. Also, the lower the level of the recipient and the extent of baldness, the better the result of hair transplantation. As you know by the development of science and technology there are various methods for hair transplant; let’s find out about them!
There are plenty of hair transplant techniques available; each of them are different from another and designed to give the best result to different patients. Some of these techniques are more popular due to the ability they have to treat various kinds of baldness and are suitable to be performed on more patients. FUT, FIT and SUT methods are in this group. In this article we will tell you about them and also the less popular methods; we hope it comes useful for you. Keep reading!
Each hair follicle grows 1 to 4 strands of hair. Currently, in the most advanced hair transplant methods, they transplant the hair follicles intactly. The result is a more natural appearance of the implanted hair. This method is called Follicular Unit Transplantation or FUT for short. Surgeons will collect the donated hair in two completely different ways. This is a very special job and the only person allowed to do this is a dermatologist.
In this method, the surgeon will surgically remove the hair as a strip of skin (strip) around the head; then they’ll suture the skin of this part. Then they cut the skin strip under a microscope into separate hair units or grafts; and then they implant the grafts in the surface of the bald area.
In this method, it is possible to remove a large volume of grafts. In the FUT hair transplant method, more hair can be removed from people who have high skin elasticity and so-called loose skin. But this method has it’s limitations and because of that, specialists do not recommend it to everyone.
This method is one of the most advanced and popular methods of hair transplantation in recent years. Among all hair transplant methods, SUT is the most popular in Iran. In SUT hair transplant technique, they use of the smart devices to select and remove hair grafts; and as a result, the possibility of damage and loss of transplanted cells is minimized.
In this technique, the surgeon can use the maximum capacity of the hair bank. During one session, they can remove about 14,000 hairs from the donor area and transfer it to the bald section. Therefore, the SUT method in terms of the highest quality of hair transplantation and density has been able to rank among the most up-to-date hair transplant methods in Europe and the United States.
The standard SUT hair transplant method has largely reduced the usual complications of hair transplantation to zero; and the applicant can return to their daily activities (except for strenuous activities) 1-2 days after the hair transplant operation. In addition to hair transplantation, this method has also been successful in beard and mustache transplantation.
FUE hair transplant is son popular because it won’t leave scars on your scalp. Also the recovery period after this surgery is so short, which many people consider as a big advantage. FUE hair transplantation technique is suitable for people with thin, elongated scalp.
This procedure is very high speed and the quality will amaze you; because of these facts, the result is so natural, and this is one of the reasons patients use this method.
In this method, the type of graft removal is different. In FIT hair transplantation, the hair transplant process is longer; also if the surgeon don’t transplant the removed grafts in less than 4 hours, there is a chance that the follicles destroy.
One of the disadvantages of this method, which is not present in FUT, is the discussion of it’s low speed of operation. FIT hair transplant takes several days to remove all the grafts and complete the hair transplant. There is a possibility of swelling and redness in this method as well as the FUT method. The difference is that in the FIT method there is no need for anesthesia. This method has also become very popular in eyebrow implants.
In the punching technique, they remove the hair in batches and implant it in the thalamus with holes in the scalp. Today, this method is not so popular and used due to creating an artificial appearance (known as a fancy appearance).
In this method of hair transplantation, which is done only in special cases, the part of the scalp that contains the hair follicles is grafted to the hair follicles. FLAP hair transplantation is an obsolete method that is performed only in special cases; because it makes an unusual appearance, causing a large wound on the head that usually you can’t hide it, and postoperative complications.
The BHT method they remove the hair from other parts of the body and transfer it to the bald part. This method is non-surgical and is usually considered as the last resort to treat hair loss. Sometimes the person applying for hair transplantation doesn’t have enough hair density in the hair bank section (back and sides). In such cases, the body hair (chest, back, legs, arms or beard) can sometimes be used as a hair transplant bank.
Success in such an operation depends on various factors and predicting the outcome is a bit complicated. In BHT technique, surgeons can transfer up to 5,000 grafts replace them in the needed area. Considering the harmony of the hair of different areas of the body with the head, we can say beards and chests are the best and worst options for a hair transplant bank, respectively. This hair transplant method has a positive result for a few people; therefore is usually the last choice in compensating for hair loss.
