Before we tell the reason of naming this village, and also the desert, Mesr, you should know that Mesr translates as Egypt in Persian. So actually it’s Egypt village! Now let’s see why.
This village is on the edge of the desert and has always been suffering from water shortage. In the past, a man named Yusuf, a resident of the same village, dug a deep water well with diesel engines. The well temporarily supplied water to the area but dried up again after a while.
So Yusuf started working again and dug a deeper well. The second well supplied water to this village for a long time and caused the development of the region as much as possible. For this reason, the surrounding villages called this area Chah Daraz village (translates as long well). But Yusuf, who did not like the name of his village, asked the people of the region to name this village after him, in honor of his name, which was taken from Prophet Yusuf and the hardships that he endured in Egypt. The locals also accepted his request. And since then this village has been known as the Mesr village and the surrounding desert is also known by this name.
